The Importance of God’s Promises to Abraham for followers of Jesus Christ
You may have heard of the Biblical patriarch Abraham, but do you know and understand God’s promises to him? And how these promises relate to Jesus Christ and to all those who follow him? Or why Abraham is mentioned in the very first sentence of the entire New Testament?
Do you want to know more about the significance God places on Abraham, so much so that he is called “the friend of God” three times in the Bible? Abraham is also known as “the father of us all”, referring to those who are IN Christ Jesus by faith. As it is written, “The scripture, foreseeing that God justifies (declares not guilty before Him) the nations by faith, preached the Gospel (or good news) beforehand to Abraham, saying, ‘All the nations will be blessed in you.'” (Galatians 3; Romans 4)
There is much to understand about how God’s promises to Abraham directly impact a believer’s walk of faith in Jesus Christ; how forgiveness and inheritance and a faithful spiritual walk in Christ are all related and vital for any disciple to know.
